Well I am off again for another adventure to Nairobi, Kenya, Africa in July 2014. After two long years away, I am going back to see the fruits of my labor. In 2011 and 2012 I was able to do short missions work, assisting to develop and implement programming for students with special needs. When I left the Mathare Valley two years ago, after a ten week stay, I had just started the very first resource room and had trained 5 teachers in informal assessment procedures. Since then, there is now one resource room in each of the 14 schools. I am eager to go back and see more progress.
Our church team has started our monthly preparation meetings in hopes of bonding prior to our departure in July. The 14 of us are off to a great start and I am excited to see what God has in store for all of us. I know He will be stretching us in ways we never knew we could be stretched.
Of note, over the last two years I had a 7.5 hour heart surgery that almost took my life but once again, our Father has other plans for me, I got engaged in Rio de Janerio, Brazil, got a new job as a Superintendent of Schools, moved, and in a few short weeks, I will be headed to the bottom of the Grand Canyon ( by helicopter), to raft through the white water rapids for a three day white water rafting trip. Our Lord has created some of the most majestic places on this Earth and the Grand Canyon is one of them. I can not wait to sleep under the stars at the bottom of the grand Canyon. I will be in touch soon.
